Tammy Ryan is currently the Supervising Producer for CBS This Morning in New York. She helps lead a team of producers on a variety of stories from breaking news to medical, political and lifestyle stories of the day. Tammy motivates and inspires her colleagues to perform at their highest levels while under extremely demanding deadlines. She also leads the Race and Culture team by providing a forum to discuss and share story ideas and working closely with contributors across the county in developing and launching pieces and series for the show.

 

Ryan began her broadcasting career at KBBG-FM Radio in Waterloo, Iowa.  By 1985 her radio career expanded into health and sports announcing. After graduating from the University of Iowa, she made the switch to television as a production assistant at WIFR-TV, CBS affiliate in Rockford, Illinois. 

 

From reporter to producer, Tammy took the fast track as Associate Producer at CLTV News in Oak Brook, Illinois, followed by CBS TV station WBBM-TV, and later at KYW-TV in Philadelphia where she was nominated for an Emmy Award.  Later, she tried her hands at a new challenge... Sports Reporter and Special Projects Producer at WB11 and a Producer for the morning show, and was promoted to the 6pm show, then moved into  Special Projects Producer at WCAU -TV, NBC10 in Philadelphia.

 

After a successful career in Philadelphia, Ryan joined the news team at WNCN NBC-17, North Carolina, as an Executive Producer.  She later joined MSNBC and covered major stories that include the “War on Terror.”  Tammy became a Senior Broadcast Producer for NBC News in New York. During this time, she was tapped as a leader for a new education initiative featuring Channel 1 News, a network with an audience of 7 million students from 11,000 schools nationwide. Additionally, she worked on the cutting edge of digital news-stories for NBC Nightly News and The Today Show. 

 

A Peabody Award winning journalist for coverage of the Gulf Oil spill, Tammy has received numerous other awards and as well as several Emmy nominations. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and during her spare time, she serves as a volunteer for Big Sister & Big Brother of America.
